Xi’an to Host First Startup Weekend in August

Development in Xi’an is happening at an increasingly rapid pace. There may be no better time to establish a business here—but if you don’t know where to start, a new event in the city may be just the thing to help you on your way.

Techstars Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs.
Startup Weekends Xi’an will begin with Friday night pitches and continue through to brainstorming, customer discovery, and basic prototype creation. Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.

This weekend will be centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on an idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

Dieter Vanonckelen, a member of the organization committee who has organized nine such events in Chengdu, said “We are excited to see the types of ideas that will come from a creative city like this. Being our first event, we are looking forward to bringing together different communities, both local and foreign, to celebrate, encourage, and support startup culture in the city.”

Startup veterans and mentors will be on hand throughout the weekend to provide expertise and give talks on their experiences in the fast-paced world of technology startups.

Do you have an idea that you think could become the next Apple, Google, or WeChat. Perhaps a new social enterprise? Come test your theory and build something cool with a hundred other passionate people who want to change the world too. Join us at Startup Weekend Xi’an!
