After being in Xi’an for almost 4 years, there comes a time when things become a little too familiar. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s a breath of fresh air when something new is on the horizon. While I enjoy making an occasional appearance at Park Qin or the usual spots, there was something missing. That’s when I heard about the Tibetan Style Bar. I remember the good ol’ Tibetan bar that used to be around in 2005, so I was anxious to check this place out.
Imagine getting the opportunity to check out a bar with a traditional Tibetan setting in the sweet confines of Xi’an. Well, now’s your opportunity. The bar is full of culture and heart. The owners, performers, and employees all hail from Tibet, with a few coming from Qinghai Province. When I think of Tibet, I think of breathtaking sights and the soul of the Tibetan people. Maybe it’s just me, but I see that in all of their eyes at this bar. I see they have a deep passion for what they do, with an undying love for Tibet. Seeing people who care about their customers and want to give them the best experience possible resonates with me.
Tibetan Style Bar’s drink selection is still a work in progress. They are testing the waters with different beers and homemade Tibetan wine. The prices are a little steep, with beers ranging from 25-40 RMB and the wine ranging from 190-220 RMB. You’ll overlook the prices once you realize that you’re also getting fantastic music and atmosphere.
The performances were phenomenal. They clearly have a wealth of experience with Tibetan dance and music. The performers also like to invite everyone to participate. We danced on stage and around the bar. When you’re finished dancing, you’ll have an overjoyed feeling.
I highly recommend this bar to anyone that’s looking for something new in Xi’an. You’ll be doing a disservice to yourself if you don’t at least check it out. The owners and employees are serious about making this place successful and I support their pursuit. I’ll definitely be back!
Pros: Great atmosphere, polite service, engaging performances.
Cons: Prices are a little steep, but well worth the price of admission.
