On Saturday, May 23rd, the Great XIANEASE Scavenger Hunt returns for the 10th year in a row! Gather your team, prepare a costume, and get ready for one of the biggest events of the year!

Team registration begins at 11AM this Saturday at the Leban at South Gate (information below) or you can register your team early for special bonus points and more by messaging us at our official account or by scanning the QR code below.

Teams will leave the start point at 12PM and will have six hours to complete as many of the tasks as possible before time runs out.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, and we will have a little something for everyone.

Still don’t know what we’re talking about? Read below.

What is the Great XIANEASE Scavenger Hunt?

A scavenger hunt is where you and a team of compatriots try to complete as many tasks from a provided list as possible within the given time frame. Some of these may be as simple as finding the cap off of a bottle of 冰峰 (bing feng) or as complicated as organizing a sing along with a bunch of strangers.

Each task will earn you points and the team with the most points at the end of the hunt will win prizes. But completing tasks is not the only way to win points. You can also earn points by dressing in a team costume, or getting people to follow you to the end point. Bonus points are also awarded through a variety of games and activities done at the end point.

What do I need?

You’ll need a team of 4 (not 3, not 5, 4) and a phone with a camera and enough space to hold a significant amount of photos and videos.

It is also very helpful if you have someone that can speak Chinese well on your team, though it is not a requirement.

Entry is 25RMB per person, or 100RMB per team of 4. All of the entry fees will be used as additional prizes to the winning teams, so the more people who come, the bigger the prizes will be.

Other items that might be helpful are a battery pack for recharging your phone; sunglasses and/or sun screen if it’s sunny; umbrellas or ponchos if it’s raining; shoes for walking and running.

Costumes are optional but encouraged, though you might want to avoid full face paint this year as masks are still required in many places in the city and face paint doesn’t mix well with them.

What if I don’t have a team?

No team? No Problem? If you’d like to find a team before the event, message us with your information and we’ll do our best to get you hooked up with a team. If you still don’t have a team by the time of the event, show up anyways. There are always people looking for a team member to fill in for those last minute cancellations.

But What If I’ve Done It Before? Is it going to be the same thing all over again?

We change up the list every year, and this year we are looking to make some big changes to make it even more interesting and challenging. Some old tasks will be disappearing and some new tasks will be featured, as well as, hopefully, a new play style.

Sounds Great! How do I sign up?

Pre-register your team by sending us a message with the following information:

Team Member Names (i.e. John Smith, etc.)

Team Name (i.e. The Fighting Pangolins)

Contact Phone Number

After we’ve confirmed your team, you’ll be able to pay the entry fee for your team there or you can wait until the start of the event to pay.

Where Do I Go?

Our start point is the Leban at South Gate in 长安国际 Changan International, just next to the Wangfujing Shopping Mall. To get there, go out of Exit B of Yongning Men Station and head up the escalators immediately to your right.

We really hope to see you there. This is one of the biggest and most exciting events that we run every year, and is definitely one that you don’t want to miss. Scan the QR code below to sign up today!
