Every January, we publish a double issue of XIANEASE Magazine so that our staff and partner companies can enjoy their Chinese New Year celebrations without any interruptions. It’s a nice little New Years break for everyone.
This issue is jammed pack with different articles based around the theme of looking forward to 2021. Definitely needed after the year we had last year!

Letter from the Editor
Greetings Everyone!
With 2020 finally over and Spring Festival right around the corner, we thought that it would be a good time to look ahead to some of the things coming up in the next year. Though there are no guarantees that things will get better in 2021, we can at least have a few things to look forward to in the coming year.
To this end, we have put together a few articles on the new and upcoming for the year of 2021. In our feature article, Martin has written about the upcoming National Games, which will be hosted in Xi’an for the first time this year. We’ve also put together a primer on the new subway lines that have opened, lines 5, 6, and 9 to help you know more about how to get around. We’ve also put this year’s public holiday schedule into a convenient calendar for you to plan you holidays. Speaking of holidays, Francis has written an article about Chongli, a ski spot outside of Beijing that will help host the Winter Olympics next year. We’ve also got an interview with the new chef at the Ritz-Carlton, Mauro San, and his impression thus far of Xi’an.
We also have more articles that run the gamut from a drink challenge (and invitation) from our resident cocktail expert, Jason Rogers, to an introduction to the Agape Warrior House, a center for children dealing with disabilities, as explored by new writer Lionel Raki. Mesh has whipped us up a recipe for a healthy granola for those of you who have promised to eat better for the new year, and Lyla has offered up some pointers on how to succeed at drinking at the New Year’s dinners that will soon be upon us. We’ve also put together a little introduction for the upcoming Chinese New Year, which will be the year of the Ox.
We’ve also decided to do something a little different this month by publishing a short story by a local writer, Travis. We hope to help some of our local aspiring writers to publish some of their work this year, so if you are interested, drop us a line by contacting us at our official WeChat account or by emailing us at editor@xianease.com.
We couldn’t do this without all of you, our readers and writers, so we would like to thank you for your continued support. We hope that this year will bring us more good times and interesting experiences. Thank you all! Happy New Year!
We sincerely hope that you enjoy this issue of XIANEASE Magazine. If you have any comments or feedback for us, message us at our official account by scanning the QR code below or by emailing us at editor@xianease.com
